White Brick Art Studio is an art instruction studio located in the Green Hills area of Nashville, Tennessee. The studio offers workshops and classes for artists of all ages and skill levels, with programming for children and adults across a variety of art media. Classes are kept small for personalized instruction, and the studio is run by a Tennessee Licensed Educator. The studio describes itself as “a safe and engaging space for children and adults to create.”
Services
White Brick Art Studio provides weekly art classes for children, with separate offerings for adults, along with summer camps, special events, and birthday parties. Children’s classes meet weekly, are limited to 12 students, and include all art materials. Programming is organized by age group and skill level, with age-appropriate, skill-building lessons.
A representative spring session illustrates the studio’s structure. Classes for ages 5 to 6 and ages 7 to 8 have focused on printmaking, exploring techniques with stamps and presses to create original prints. Classes for ages 9 to 10 and ages 11 and up have focused on fiber art, where students “learn the basics of needle felting, create fun no-sew patches, and practice simple embroidery techniques.” A four-week children’s session has been priced at $155.00, and the studio has noted a fall session for ages 5 and up beginning in November 2026. The studio also offers gift cards.
About
The studio was founded by Libby Scanlan, the owner and a Tennessee Licensed Educator. Scanlan began teaching art in 2002 and has worked with students across Sumner and Davidson Counties for over 20 years, holding credentials as both a jeweler and a licensed Tennessee art educator. She created the studio to address an unmet need, observing that “creative kids need additional time for making art outside of school in the same way they need academic tutoring, athletics, or music lessons.”
The studio operates from a home workspace that Scanlan and her husband intentionally designed into their house when it was built, serving as “a multi-functional working space for my personal art as well as a creative space for children and adults.” Scanlan describes sharing the creative process with students as her joy and passion. The studio’s stated philosophy quotes Mary Lou Cook: “Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.”
