The Authentique was founded by Philippine Maillard and Alexandre Meunier. Philippine, from the Champagne region of France, comes from a family with three generations in hospitality and winemaking; her grandparents Pascal and Jacqueline operated Le Lion de Belfort, described as one of the largest and most beloved bars in Champagne, for over 30 years, and her mother Caroline crafts Champagne. Alexandre, raised between Paris and its suburbs, is the son of wine devotee Christian Meunier, who has international wine experience across France, Brazil, and Canada.
