Be Birthwise is a childbirth education business based in Nashville, Tennessee. It provides evidence-based birth classes that prepare expectant parents for labor, delivery, postpartum recovery, newborn care, and breastfeeding. The company was founded by two sisters who are registered nurses and doulas, and it emphasizes practical, evidence-based instruction offered without judgment.
Services
Be Birthwise offers a range of class formats to suit different schedules and preferences. The Group Class Intensive runs from 12pm to 6pm on one weekend day each month. Private options include the Private Birth Intensive Class Part One, covering labor, pushing, and postpartum, and Part Two, covering newborn care and breastfeeding. A Semi-Private Birth Class Intensive is also available, capped at two couples.
For families who prefer remote learning, the company offers a Live Online Labor and Early Postpartum Class and a Live Online Breastfeeding Class. A recorded Helpers Online Course is available for partners, family members, and others who will support the birth. Listed pricing includes the Group Class at $379 per couple, the Private Part One and Part Two classes at $350 each, and the Semi-Private class at $450 per couple.
The curriculum is designed to bring “evidence based research come to life,” combining clinical knowledge with the instructors’ personal experiences as mothers and birth professionals. Topics covered across the classes include the signs and stages of labor, pain management options for both natural and epidural births, labor positions and movement, partner support techniques, medical interventions and hospital procedures, and postpartum recovery and newborn basics. The site notes that classes are “specifically designed for both you and your partner” and support “all birth plans,” including epidural, unmedicated, induction, and planned C-section.
The company advises that “most couples take a childbirth class between 28-34 weeks of pregnancy,” while adding that a class can be beneficial at any stage. In-person classes are described as small and personalized, while the virtual classes provide flexibility for busier schedules, and all classes are led by a labor and delivery nurse and a certified doula.
