About
Paws to Remember was founded in 2019 by Maryglenn Warnock, who is described as a certified pet bereavement counselor and a pet funeral officiant, or pet chaplain, ordained through a Universalist church. She is a lifelong animal advocate who served on the executive board of the Nashville Humane Association and volunteered in animal rescue for 20 years. She holds a BA in English from Vanderbilt University. A native of Munfordville, Kentucky, she lives in Nashville with her husband Tim and an Old English Sheepdog named Major.
The inspiration for the business came from the loss of Garcia, Warnock’s Old English Sheepdog, in June 2011. After experiencing profound grief, she planned a memorial service in August 2011 that helped her process the loss, later stating that Garcia’s funeral, although unorthodox, was pivotal in beginning her grieving process. The business emerged from her eight-year journey through pet loss and subsequent professional training.
