About
Otaku Ramen was founded by chef and owner Sarah Gavigan, who relocated with her husband Brad Gavigan from Los Angeles to Nashville, her hometown. According to the restaurant’s story, Sarah found that ramen was not available in the city when she arrived, which led her to begin experimenting with ramen making. She describes a goal of mastering the art of ramen making and sharing its history, tradition, and flavor. The business began as a pop-up for three years before opening its first permanent location in The Gulch in December 2015, which the restaurant describes as Nashville’s first dedicated ramen shop. The restaurant states that it later opened an East Nashville location in 2018 and expanded with a West Nashville location.
