Harry Wilkinson Drums is a drum and percussion instruction service based in Nashville, Tennessee. Led by professional drummer Harry Wilkinson, the studio offers private lessons in drum set, mallet instruments, and school percussion for students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Wilkinson also creates instructional drum books and videos to support student development.
Services
Harry Wilkinson Drums provides instruction across several areas of percussion:
- Drum Set Lessons. Acoustic and electronic drum set instruction. The approach builds strength with the feet before combining all four limbs, starting with basic American drum set patterns and progressing through rock, blues, and jazz styles.
- Mallet Instrument Lessons. Instruction on xylophone, bells, and vibraphone, working through two to four measures of music at a time to develop motor skills.
- School Percussion. Instruction for school drummers on snare, marching band, and orchestra percussion.
Lessons accommodate any age and any level, including beginners with no prior experience, and both left- and right-handed students. Topics covered include music reading, playing by ear, studio and live recording techniques, drum head tuning, bass drum pedal technique, touring advice, band performance tips, and audition preparation. Wilkinson incorporates assorted books and videos he has created over the years, along with his own music recordings aligned to a student’s proficiency level, so learners can play real songs in their lessons.
