The Drum Pad is a drum teaching and practice facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The company describes itself as a new teaching facility for drummers of any age or skill level and as Nashville’s newest teaching and practice facility. It combines private drum instruction with rehearsal and practice space, and it operates in partnership with Drum Paradise Nashville for equipment and events. Drum kits at the facility are provided by Drum Paradise, and students bring their own sticks. The facility also features a monthly featured drum kit showcase.
Services
The Drum Pad offers the following:
- Rehearsal Space Rental. Hourly and weekly rental of practice and rehearsal space, outfitted with quality drum kits supplied by Drum Paradise.
- Drum Lessons. Private instruction with professional drummers, including instructors who tour and record with major artists. Lesson availability varies by instructor and is affected by touring and session schedules, so lessons may be limited to specific days or temporarily unavailable depending on the drummer.
- Masterclasses. Group instruction and masterclass sessions led by professional drummers.
The roster of instructors includes Scott Calandra, who specializes in hybrid drumming, beat programming, and backing tracks, along with Chris McHugh, Rich Redmond, Seth Rausch, Chad Cromwell, Sandy Gennaro, Bobby Mertz, Richie Martinez, Phil Potor, and Brian Quick. Because many instructors maintain active touring and recording careers, individual availability changes over time, and scheduling is arranged by direct inquiry.
About
The Drum Pad was established by Harry McCarthy, a touring and studio drummer who has worked with artists including Bruce Springsteen, The Eagles, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, and Keith Urban, among others. McCarthy was born in Harrison, New York, and was inspired by his uncle, big band drummer Eddie Julian. He co-founded Drum Paradise in Los Angeles in 1989 with partner Jeff Chonis, and in 1994 he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee, where he established Drum Paradise Nashville, Inc. The Drum Pad is his latest venture, extending the Drum Paradise operation into dedicated teaching and practice space.

Additional Information
The Drum Pad’s website includes an About page describing its founder and history, a Lessons page listing instructors and specializations, and a “Hire Us” page for booking time. The facility’s partnership with Drum Paradise Nashville supports both its equipment and its events programming, including the monthly featured drum kit. Because the kits at the facility are supplied by Drum Paradise, students arriving for lessons or practice need only bring their own sticks. The site presents the facility as suitable for drummers of any age or skill level, pairing instruction from working professionals with rentable practice space in one location. Instructor availability is noted as dependent on touring and session calendars, so the active roster shifts over time, and the site indicates current scheduling status on individual instructor pages. Prospective students are directed to email the facility to ask about lessons, instructor availability, and booking practice time.
