About
Boston Commons was founded by Matt Charette, who, according to the restaurant, drew inspiration from his father, a gourmet chef and Boston Red Sox enthusiast from Palmer, Massachusetts. The restaurant’s stated mission is to bring “the authentic taste of New England to East Nashville, where Boston Meets Nashville.” Signature offerings highlighted by the establishment include its creamy clam chowder and its “famous Signature Fish & Chips,” and the venue positions itself for occasions ranging from business meetings to casual drinks and family dining.
The pub has become a gathering spot for local chapters of Red Sox and Patriots fans and broadcasts Boston-area sports, contributing to its New England theme. According to the establishment, a tornado on March 3, 2020 caused major damage to this location and other nearby restaurants. Following the storm, Charette commissioned a “Nashville Strong” mural on the side of the building “as a message of thanks, and hope, and strength” to the Five Points and East Nashville communities; the mural was completed in three days by artist Jason Galaz and became a symbol of resilience during subsequent closures. The owner operates multiple businesses in the area.
