About
The Village Chapel was founded in 2001, growing out of the Watershed Bible Study led by Pastor Jim and Kim Thomas. The congregation initially met in a Music Row record label lobby before relocating to the Hampton Inn in Green Hills. In 2003 it moved to the historic St. Bernard Building, which it purchased in 2015. The building dates to 1905 and originally housed St. Bernard Academy.
The church describes itself as “more like an organism than an organization, more like a movement than an institution, more like a family than a corporation.” It values “humility and respects honesty,” and aims to be “the kind of church people might be surprised by.”
